mostly, i have no words right now. i just watched a little clip of The Cove, the documentary that won the Oscar this year. i haven't watched the full film yet, but watching what little footage i did just completely wrecked me. watching the water turn a solid shade of red as the dolphins were killed was heartbreaking. how can you not be moved by the horrifying treatment of these dolphins? this is just as awful as sex trafficking, the use of child soldiers or any other social injustice.

trampolines and belief.

i'm currently re-reading Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell (i know i talk about Rob Bell a lot, but i'm really inspired by his work), and one analogy he makes in the book is of comparing the Christian faith to a trampoline. he says that the springs on a trampoline are all the different things we believe about God and the Bible, and that just like springs, those beliefs have to be flexible and open to changing, otherwise our faith could easily fall apart. God is so much bigger than anything we could ever fathom. we can't begin to think we know it all or have it figured out because there is no way we can comprehend or wrap our little minds around who God is and what He does.

i'm incredibly in awe of how God can completely smash everything i think i know and then mold and shape what i believe into something bigger. if i look back to where i was when i became a Christian six years ago, i hardly recognize that person. what i believe now is so different and continues to change. i have more questions and constantly want to know more.

hi, friends. it's Earth Day! it's an awesome day where we appreciate the environment and help work toward building a culture of sustainability.

recycle your soda cans, paper and plastic bottles. turn off the TV and the lights and spend some time outside. walk or ride your bike somewhere instead of driving your car. buy locally grown food instead of mass-produced products.

you should try it; not just today but every day! mother nature will thank you.

i'm excited about the Norman Music Festival this weekend! hopefully i'll be able to make it out to catch at least a couple of bands.

i'm really ready for allergy season to end (which is such a shame because i love spring). i can't take any more of this misery!

the volcano in Iceland needs to stop spewing ash immediately so there won't be any bans on European flights in May, when i am scheduled to head abroad.

i'm really craving some passion fruit bubble tea right now.

i've been obsessively checking the John Mayer website to see if they've posted the presale dates for his upcoming summer tour. i'm beyond excited to see JM twice in one year!

i just bought a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses, the kind that Audrey Hepburn made iconic in Breakfast at Tiffany's (which is, of course, my all time favorite movie).

jesus's resurrection is the reminder that darkness and death don't prevail. in the end, love wins. and all the difficult and horrible things about this world shall one day be made right. what an incredible concept.
